- FEMA: The Disaster Assistance Process for Individuals
Call to Apply for Assistance 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The speech or hearing impaired may call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. You may also register online. Also, check and see if your county is eligible for FEMA assistance.
- The Care Fund - Hospital employees wishing to apply for monies from The Care Fund should contact their hospital CEO.
- AIG VALIC clients - As a result of the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, AIG VALIC acknowledges the potential need for VALIC participants in affected areas to receive expedited loans or hardship withdrawals from their VALIC retirement accounts to assist in rebuilding. AIG VALIC will make the following accommodations for participants who were affected by the storm.
- Insurance Hot Line - America's Health Insurance Plans and its members have set up a national toll-free number, 1-800-644-1818, for hurricane victims who have questions or don't know how to contact their health insurance plans. It is staffed 24 hours a day.
- Hurricane Katrina: Information on Charitable Giving/Tax-Relief Issues from the IRS
- HUD Housing Hotline - HUD has established a single toll-free housing hotline, 1-888-297-8685, to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The number operates from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT, seven days a week.

Many physician offices are classifed as small businesses and are eligible for disaster assistance through the Small Business Administration. You may call 1 (800) 659-2955 or TTY 1 (800) 877-8339. The filing deadline for physical damage is October 28, 2005. Here are the forms needed to apply for SBA disaster business loans.
